Ted Kennedy died a little after midnight after a year long battle with brain cancer. The Senator, long referred to as the “Liberal Lion”, spent his last few days trying to get the law that he put in place to cover his seat in 2004, should he win nomination for POTUS, changed back now. Then it was to prevent a nominally Repub governor from appointing a RINO to his seat. Now it’s to keep the seat from being vacant since that’s no longer a problem.
This pretty well defines Teddy specifically and the Kennedys in general. Do whatever it takes to maintain power and forward a left wing agenda. If you have to twist the law, run over the Constitution or BoR, or lie about murdering a girl on a bridge in the dark of night, so be it. For decades Kennedy yelled, cursed and drank his way through his career, promoting legislation to restrict the rights of gun owners, tax the productive to pay for the lazy and covering butt for his fellow lefties. Unless, of course, they stepped off the Democrat Plantation. Then Ted’s true tolerance shined through.
They say you aren’t supposed to speak ill of the dead but this is one dead white guy that earned just about all the vitriol that will be heaped upon him over the next week or so. Even as we are deluged in a state funeral and endless media coverage of the demise of this “great” man most of the US will know him for what he was: A murderer, a drunkard, a womanizer, a hypocrite, a race-baiter, a partisan hack and the Kennedy who just never could quite make it.
The US is better for his failures than his “successes”, and he’s one of the few people whose demise leaves the world a brighter place. We can only hope that there is a just God and Mary Jo Kopeckne finally gets the justice she and her family had to wait forty years for. At least for those of us left behind things are better already.
Rest in peace, Teddy. I pray for your eternal soul even as I hope there is an angel assigned to kick your metaphysical ass for the next couple millenia.
I think the time for justice for Mary Jo was long gone well before The Hiccup finally kicked the bucket, at least with respect to Man’s justice. After all, we’re all going to die some day and Ted was pushing 80, so he lived a normal life span. In fact, when one considers his excesses, he probably enjoyed more years than most do under the same circumstances. Most drunks don’t live as long as he did.
No, justice for Mary Jo would have consisted of an appropriate prosecution and prison sentence for her death then and there. At the very least, Kennedy should have been banished from public life and forced to hang his head in shame while being shunned by his peers and the voters of Massachusetts. But instead, society chose E). None of the above. In another state this probably would not have been so. I really wonder if he could have been re-elected even here in California. Back in those days, California was much more conservative, and still isn’t as far left as MA is even today. I can’t think of another state in which he could have been elected even to chief refuse and dog dropping collector other than MA during that time – not CA, not MN (that just elected Al Franken to the United States Senate, God help us), not VT, OR, WA, RI, MD, or DE. None of those leftist bastions would have elected this pig, especially not back then. Maybe, just maybe NY would have, but even that seems doubtful because Pat Moynihan was a big name then, and I don’t think he would have allowed it.
I think it’s long been the case that the only justice for Mary Jo would come on The Hiccup’s judgment day. Now that that day is here, I pray that God smote Kennedy and sent him to Hell for all eternity for the callous killing of Mary Jo, and for the lives of all the dead babies he, as a senate leader (and a Catholic, I’m ashamed to say), affirmatively worked to destroy, and the misery of many Americans who are victims of his successful plantation political machine.
If Dante’s account of Hell described in his The Inferno is true, then Kennedy now drifts between circles 7 for the violent, 8 for the fraudulent, and 9 for traitors.
